Record

Brando wore the watch as Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now, filmed in the Philippines; according to Phillips he removed the bezel because the watch looked too flashy for the character. He gave it to his adopted daughter Petra Brando Fischer on her college graduation in 1995, and in 2003 she gave it to her husband Russell Fischer as a wedding present. Phillips sold it in its 'Game Changers' auction in New York on 10 December 2019 for $1.95 million, with part of the proceeds going to the couple's children's charity.
