Maker unknown
The only recorded cover bearing the two-cent Hawaiian Missionary, also carrying a five-cent Missionary and a pair of United States three-cent stamps.
William C. Dawson sent this letter from Hawaii to his sister Eliza in New York. It was postmarked in Honolulu on 4 October and in San Francisco on 27 October; the auction catalogue dates the use to 1852 from the stamps, postal markings and sailing records. It is the only recorded cover with the two-cent Hawaiian Missionary and the only intact cover combining two Missionary denominations. Later owners included Alfred H. Caspary and the Honolulu Advertiser collection. It appeared at major international exhibitions, including Interphil in 1976 and Washington in 2006. Siegel sold it on 25 June 2013 for a hammer price of US$1,950,000.
