Record

The House of Fabergé made the Hen Egg with Sapphire Pendant as an Imperial Easter egg in 1886. Alexander III of Russia commissioned the egg as an Easter gift. The egg was presented to Maria Feodorovna for Easter in 1886. The Imperial egg was made by Fabergé in Saint Petersburg (renamed Petrograd in 1914). The Fabergé Research location table listed this egg among the missing Imperial Easter eggs. Because the cited location record lists the egg as missing, no current owner or present location is identified here.
